Remember when we reported on General Motors and Shenghai Automotive Industries Corp. working on plans to develop new four-cylinder engines and double-clutch transmissions? Of course you do. If you didn’t, shame on you. Anyway, the partnership has gone on to sign a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that sets an outline on how the two will collaborate on the development of these future powertrains, as well as setting focus on alternative energy vehicles.
The effort will see involvement from both the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center in Shanghai and GM’s Powertrain facility in Pontiac, MI. For more on the matter, have a look at the presser below.
