Fun Fact: Cadillac One Uses Kodiak/Top Kick Chassis

If you’ve ever taken a glance at President Barack Obama’s limousine, Cadillac One, you’ll most likely notice that it looks a bit different from any other STS or DTS seen on the road today. That’s because it has virtually nothing in common with these soon-to-be-forgotten sedans. In fact, the one-of-a-kind limo shares more common ground with The General’s HD trucks than anything else.
That’s right, Cadillac One (also nicknamed “The Beast”) is underpinned by the GMT 530/560 platform – the very same chassis used for the retired Chevrolet Kodiak and GMC TopKick medium-duty trucks. This is completely understandable, considering all of the weight and safety technology in the limi, including 8-inch thick doors, bullet proof glass and 5-inch thick armor plating under the limousine that keep the Commander-in-Chief, his passengers, and his CIA-trained chauffeur safe and secure. Hopefully the next generation presidential limo will continue the long tradition as a General Motors vehicle…
