Shall We Build A Chevrolet Volt?

Here at GM Authority, we find it difficult to believe that GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck plant will be spawning Chevrolet Volts within the next few weeks. And now that the official Volt configurator is up and running, we can get a taste of what consumers will get (and pay) by building our own Volt online.

The configurator reveals that only a few options will be available for the seven states where the Volt will be available in 2011. For $44,680, you can a have Volt with a choice of three up-level colors, a premium trim package that includes heated driver and passenger seats, leather wrapped steering wheel ($1,395), polished aluminum wheels ($595), and Rear Camera and Park Assist Package ($695).

That lofty price drops to $37,180 after tax breaks. Now if that price tag is a bit hard for you to swallow, GM is offering a 36 month lease for a much more palatable $350 a month with $2,500 due at signing. Nevertheless, the Volt is coming closer and closer to a dealership near you.
