It’s been a while since we’ve gotten wind of a rumor. Especially one involving The General’s full-size SUV models. In fact, we’ve yet to uncover one. Until now…
The next generation of GM full-sized trucks and SUVs, currently dubbed K2XX internally, will begin making way to dealerships by this time in 2012. The launch will begin with the next gen. Silverado and Sierra pickup trucks and finish off with the all-new Escalade by Q4 2013. We also expect The General’s next batch of small-block V8 engines to make their debut in these models. Okay, so this isn’t the rumor, we just wanted to get those facts out of the way. Here’s the juicy stuff:
According to our well-placed sources, the current generation lineup of full-size SUV models will receive enhancements, including unique face-lifts and several technology upgrades. This means that the current generation Escalade, Yukon or Suburban models could look much more different before they carry over to an all-new generation.
Now, sources say that these enhancements will debut before any of the K2XX models, as somewhat of a grand-finale sendoff to the current GMT-900-based SUVs. If only we knew which upcoming auto show(s) they plan on showing up…

Face-lifts.
yea, I am ready for a style change. Would like the escalade to look quite a bit different than the yukon/burb. Just to get some differentiation. More durable leather front seats too would be nice. Rugged I need.

Awesome. I’m so excited to see the new body styles.
is there a model coming with incresed fuel efficiency and stylish reliabilty
Well, it’s a full size truck/SUV. Not sure how much more they could do to improve fuel economy and still keep the vehicle’s price at/around current levels.
PS: what’s “stylish reliability”? The current GMT-900s vehicles have a good track record when it comes to reliability. If, however, you were referring to styling (and not reliability), then yes — the next-generation trucks should be beautiful… And the Chevy won’t be a rebadge of the GMC:

It has been over 15 months since the original article was published…Does anyone know the timing for the next generation GMC SUVs (e.g. YukonXL, Denali XL, Escalade)? I would appreciate any information. Thank you!
Mark — they will come on the heels of the new Silverado and Sierra — which may not debut or come to market at the same time as they did in years past. The new Silverado should be available in 2013 as a 2014 model-year vehicle… so the full-sizers should come a few months (or a year) after that.
Alex: thanks for the information…I am starting to $ave now so i can get a Denali XL or Excalade SUV when they come out…I look forward to the Next Gen full size SUVs. Please kee us posted when the announcement comes out. MakG
Perhaps the updates aren’t coming for the current-gens, after all… the only GMT 900 SUV to be updated (if that) is the Escalade with the Premium Package:

What about the future medium duty news ?
