It’s no secret that Buick is a very hot topic among the ranks of the GM Authority crew. As such, you can imagine how much we’ve been scouring the web for any additional information about the future of the Tri Shield brand – specifically, the Buick Excelle/Verano. Now, we already know that the Excelle GT will make its way over to the United States as the Verano. But what about the Excelle XT – the hatch variant of the Verano?
Since it’s only available in China (for now), we haven’t seen much about the Delta II-based Excelle XT. But we did manage to get our hands on an additional set of pictures from GM China’s media collection – and we thought we’d share them with you here. The real question appears to be whether GM should, indeed, bring this hatchback to the States. There’s already an excellent discussion in the forum about this very topic – and we’d love to hear what you think.

That is such a beautiful car and it seems so… American. It’s weird that it’s marketed to China and we can’t even get it here (the hatchback version). Do you know if it is front or rear-wheel drive?
It sure does look nice in these very photoshopped pics. Would be interesting to see how it looks in the real world.
PS: it’s front wheel drive – Delta II-based. Same platform as Cruze.
I do have one request if Buick decides to bring the Excelle Hatch over,
Don’t call it the Buick Verano Hatch, its terrible
Yes, It should, indeed, be sold in America. And XT should be launched in America before GT 🙁
I’m waiting for the day of Buick return to Middle East. It was phased out in 1996.
If they bring a turbo Buick hatch back to North America i will buy one. I love the Opel product in Europe,so to have a chance to get a high performance version for Buick is an awesome idea. I have always preferred the look and versatility of a hatch back, and add high performance and i am in love…..J
I love the idea of a hatchback.I had a Saturn Astra and really liked the car,but found it a little to small.I drove a Cruze for a few days and loved the roominess and it had cup holders.I would love to own the Buick hatchback.
