Motor Trend Achieves 127 MPG With Chevy Volt

So it might not be 230 mpg that was touted last year. But the Chevrolet Volt’s 127 mpg rating is still stratospheric. In fact, it’s over five times more  impressive than the 40 mpg mark attained with the Chevrolet Cruze.

Of course, the Volt’s engine had to be quietly kicked in during Motor Trend’s 299 mile trip through the urban Los Angeles roads and the highways surrounding it. The trip was meant to simulate typical driving habits. Though this was before the M/T crew cranked the obnoxiousness level up to eleven by driving 101 mph with the A/C up all the way. Still, the Volt stayed impressive and yielded 75 mpg. In total, 2.36 gallons of gasoline were used through the trip.

With this latest piece of Volt news, does it make the Extended Range Electric Vehicle seem that much more worth it?
