Since today hasn’t been overwhelming with the latest Chevy Volt hoopla, or the latest Cadillac ATS hype, we would like to take five and tell you about the success of Chevrolet World Touring Car Championship team. With just two racing circuits left to go in the season, the team holds a significant first place lead with 569 points, 45 points ahead of second-placed SEAT. This lead is in no small part the result of the team’s drivers constantly finishing in top spots.
Though the Chevrolet WTCC team is in several ways shadowed by Corvette Racing in terms of high-profile, high-octane racing, the it’s having much better luck than what Corvette Racing experienced throughout its 2010 season, with the exception of its victory at Petit Le Mans.
Chevrolet Cruze WTCC driver Yven Muller leads the pack with 265 points and is coming off back-to-back second place finishes from the Valencia, Spain circuit last month. Yven and the rest of the Chevrolet team look to close out the season in Okayama, Japan today and then race to a season ending victory in Macau, Macau on November 21st and 22nd. If the team can continue the momentum, it will have no problem closing out the season at the top of both manufacturer’s and driver’s point standings.
