Advert: Buick Regal Has Power

Buick has just released a trio of new ads for the 2011 Regal. The first commercial – titled Power – highlights the Regal’s aluminum “state-of-the-art inline direct injected engine” with variable valve timing that “optimizes power and fuel efficiency.”

Power? Who is Buick kiddin’?

True, the Regal’s 2.4 liter ECOTEC engine (that carries the internal LAF designation) is a fine four-banger that has all the makings of a modern engine. But it is very low on power. We’re not sure whether this is an effort by Buick to play up the measly 182 horses produced by the ECOTEC or an attempt to put the Regal in a different light, but one thing’s for certain: the Regal is anything but powerful… tat said, let the performance begin!

  1. I honestly think GM should put a 4 liter V-6 in this thing at least. It’s ridiculously. Even if i was dying for a Buick, I would never buy and engine that anemic, for a car that heavy…

    1. Yeah, no kiddin’! But GM goes one step further and calls this thing a “sport injected” vehicle. Ppplease! How about the 3.6 liter LLT? Or – at the very least – the 3.0 liter LF1. 🙁
