To put it honestly, hatchbacks are in Europe are to what full-sized pickups are in the United States: they’re everywhere. The market is extremely competitive and are more or less a cultural phenomenon. This being the case, it comes as no surprise that General Motors is showing off yet another hatchback at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. This time, it’s the Vauxhall GTC Concept.
From what we can gather, the Vauxhall GTC Concept points towards the future design direction for both the Opel and Vauxhall brands. Therefore, we will more than certainly see several of its design cues used in the next-generation three-door Opel/Vauxhall Astra Sport Hatch. And even though we probably won’t see the concept’s 21-inch wheels on any production Astra, the 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder ECOTEC engine seems quite plausible to make its way to market.
To see this looker in-person, as well as the Chevy Cruze Hatch, hop on a plane bound for Paris, France come September 30th. Then let us know how it looks.
