It’s time to say “yay” for Chevrolet: the bow tie brand has the most loyal online car shoppers!
According to an online car shopping brand loyalty study by CarGurus, 70 percent of those who searched online for a Chevrolet vehicle did not appear to consider any other brand during their browsing/shopping experience.
Chevy was closely followed by Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen, with 69 and 67 percent of online searches demonstrating such brand loyalty behavior, respectively.
The CarGurus study used 1.7 million consumer car searches using the CarGurus DealFinder online car shopping service. The initial vehicle search was then analyzed and subsequently compared to other brands/cars to measure consideration of other brands.
The GM Authority Take
While this is very good news, we don’t see how it can be completely accurate. It’s no secret that Chevy is currently producing some very good vehicles – the best the brand has ever made.
But let’s be honest: there are a few models in the Chevy portfolio that consumers would be ludicrous to choose over those offered by the competition. You know the offenders: old and uncompetitive vehicles such as the Impala, Aveo, and Cobalt spring to mind.
And while all of these will receive a complete makeover come next year, shoppers in the study in question probably weren’t aware of this – and buying any one of the aforementioned Chevys over the offerings from Ford, Toyota, and Honda, among others, would be what we’d call a bad decision.
