A little fly on the corporate walls of OnStar has recently let us know that the automotive telematics company is considering offering some services to non-subscribers.
As such, this makes it entirely possible that owners of OnStar-equipped GM vehicles will soon be able to purchase OnStar services a-la-carte. Currently, OnStar is free on most GM vehicles for the first year. After the first trial year, the owner has a choice of renewing their subscription with two plans – a $199/year choice for safety features and a $299/year plan for safety and navigation help.
Currently, OnStar is in the process of launching smartphone apps for each GM brand allows owners to perform all the functions available from a vehicle key fob directly from their smartphone.
OnStar will also soon launch SMS and Facebook integration that will read vehicle occupants their text and Facebook messages. The new feature will also provide occupants the ability to reply to said messages. Perhaps this will be one of those subscription-free features being considered by OnStar… we certainly hope so.

Fantastic blog you have here but I was curious
about if you knew of any discussion boards that
cover the same topics talked about in this article? I’d really love to be a part of community where I can get responses from other experienced people that share the same interest. If you have any recommendations, please let me know. Thank you!
