Fact: First Buick Regal Sold To Customer Cross-Shopping Audi A4, Toyota Camry

It’s no secret that the GM Authority crew has been hard at work trying to figure out the most direct competitors for the all-new Buick Regal. If this is your first time hearing about this insurmountable feat, just have a listen to any of our Weekly or Debate podcasts.

At the end of the day, we still can’t figure out whether the Epsilon II-based Regal is aimed at the mainstream buyer, the luxury customer, or somewhere in between. And it appears that consumers can’t seem to answer that question either, since the first Regal ever sold in the US of A back in July went to a 44-year-old male manufacturing executive from suburban Chicago.

Interestingly, the happy owner of the 2011 Regal also shopped a Toyota Camry as well as an Audi A4 before settling for the Buick. Yes, you read that right.

What does this tell us – besides the fact that a Camry and an A4 are completely different vehicles that yours truly would never even dream of cross shopping? I’m not quite sure… can you help me out in the comments?
