Bonjour Belle. Before its live debut at the Paris Motor Show on September 30th, Chevrolet has officially released photos of its latest model destined for European launch – the Cruze hatchback. Since we’ve speculated about the model’s arrival in the last few weeks, this news does not come as much of a shocker – but it doesn’t ice down the fact that this C-segment wagon looks hot. White hot.
Though General Motors is describing the unveiled version as a “show car” (meaning it’s somewhere in the middle between a concept and production version), the production model will see very few changes when it finally hits the streets. Expect the strings of LED lights on the lower front fascia and blue brake calipers to disappear. However, something that won’t go away will be the 400 L (14 cu.ft.) of total cargo space.
In Europe, hatchbacks make up around 65 percent of the entire compact market, which makes up 4.8 million vehicles across the board. Therefore, it’s easy to see why GM Europe will get the Cruze hatch first. Let’s hope for its eventual arrival in North America.
Comments
Chevrolet continues to miss the mark. I am not sure who keeps saying that hatchbacks don’t do well here, but he/she should be flogged. Hatch’s are the most practical platform hence the high sales in SUV, CUV, wagons. Wake up Chevrolet and get rid of the old regime that keeps your company in the dark ages. Get on board with the world car idea, one car-one planet!
Well said – couldn’t agree more.
