This 1961 Chevrolet Suburban that’s on sale on Hemmings.com is definitely a peculiar find. The two-tone paint job, paneled windows, and Caddy V8 make it look like a government vehicle of some sort, perhaps having been used in the military or maybe the forest service. This is one of those vehicles that most likely has many stories to tell… if only it could talk. From the seller’s description:
1961 Chevrolet Apache Carryall Suburban, very unique government or military vehicle, The data plate states Model C1406, VIN 1C146K137361, Fed stock #2320-752-9812 US Property. This is an older restore, it has all the windows intact, rear glass was covered with fiberglass panel which I now took off. It has an great running 425 Caddy motor, holly 4bb carb, power brakes, auto trans, nice interior, and air conditioning. The body has some dings and small dents but no rusted out areas. Stored in New Mexico and Colorado. Has Colorado title, keys, etc. wouldn’t take much to be a driver again. I am getting more pictures and information. I recently aquired this vehicle so I am unable to provide much history.
Find it on the Hemmings website here.
