Was Bob Lutz Flying Low?

For years, now-retired Bob Lutz kept the media in a frenzy. Whether it was making outlandish statements or revealing secret company plans, Bob had a knack for getting people excited. Unfortunately, he was usually called out by name within GM for doing so, and subsequently corrected. These days however, Bob has the privilege of remaining anonymous.

And so it came to be that a small jet was noticed flying throughout Michigan airspace. Though it’s not clear how this piece of information came to be, reports cited a “retired gentleman” flying the plane, and residents who noticed the aircraft flying unusually low were concerned that it was in danger of crashing. The plane ended up landing safely, with the identity of the pilot or the owner of the jet remaining unknown.

Given the circumstances, there’s a possibility that Lutz — an avid pilot who flew in the United States Marine Corps Reserves in the 1960s — could have been the pilot; but without PR folks to save him, we’ll let Bob have his anonymity.
