Currently, General Motors sells the Opel Astra 5-door hatch as the Buick Excelle XT in China. Until today, however, the Astra/Excelle sedan has never been seen, except in renderings. Eagle-eyed spy photographers were able to catch the Buick Excelle Sedan wearing very little camo in a parking garage in China.
There isn’t anything particularly significant about this car except for the fact that it is expected to eventually make its way over to U.S. shores, most likely as the Buick Verano.
From what we see in the spy shots, the overall shape of the compact Delta II-based sedan looks very akin to that of the last-gen Hyuindai Elantra, especially in the rear 3/4 view. If GM plans to bring this vehicle to the U.S. as a Buick, and thus market it as an upscale compact sedan, the vehicle in the pictures doesn’t look to fit the bill.
Nevertheless, we can’t really judge a vehicle or its appearance until we see it in person and drive it. We look forward to it!
