Community Support: Part Of Lordstown Road To Be Named General Motors Parkway

Lordstown, Ohio officials and residents are honoring General Motors’ commitment to the area valley by renaming a part of Hallock-Young Road to General Motors Parkway. The decision was made during a meeting of the Lordstown Village Council after The General announced that it will bring back 1,200 manufacturing jobs to produce the much-anticipated Chevrolet Cruze compact sedan at its Lordstown, Ohio plant.

Currently, there is no word reagarding when the change will take place, but the Village Council is apparently in favor of coinciding the naming ceremony with the rollout of the all-new Chevrolet Cruze, the latter set for the fall of 2010.

The GM Authority Take

If this is not an example of a community standing behind The General – and The General firmly standing behind it – we’re not sure what is. Need more proof that the American auto industry is on the up and up? Look no further than the Chevy Cruze and the people who’ll be making it.
