Rumormill: Camaro To Lasso 2011 V6 Mustang With An Upgrade… Very Soon

2010 Chevy Camaro - Not So Fast, Mustang...With Ford’s announcement that the 2011 Mustang will be getting a new base powerplant in the form of the 3.7-liter 305 hp V6 (.1-liter larger, and 1 hp faster than the Camaro), the team over at Chevy is apparently paying attention and are taking swift action to make sure that the Camaro does not get outpaced in either engineering, or more importantly, sales. Chevy’s response to its rival might be expected in the coming years but John Fitzpatrick, Chevy’s marketing manager for the Corvette and Camaro, admitted “you might see it sooner than that.”

Fitzpatrick seemingly dropped a big hint in suggesting that extra bite could be added to the LLT 3.6 L V6 as soon as April, with details about the 2011 Camaro expected to surface in the coming weeks. Hopefully the guys at GM can come up with more than just a 1-hp improvement.
