GM has been on an advertising spree these last few weeks, and for good measure – it has great product that needs to be showcased to the public. This time around, GM’s at it again with a Buick commercial and billboard for the 2010 LaCrosse.
I find it especially exciting that Buick is so vehemently going after the Lexus ES350 sedan, as you can see in the billboard and in this previous ad. Having sold 82,267 units in 2007 and 64,135 in 2008, the ES is Lexus’ top-selling sedan – and Buick has made a good decision to go after that market.
For those who laugh at Buick’s decision to compete with Lexus and other luxury brands, I recommend you take a big step back and rethink your doubts: Lexus was nothing but a laughingstock fifteen years ago, when it entered the US market. It takes time, good product, excellent service, and effective marketing to become (and stay) successful. Will Buick make it? You already know my opinion! (it’s a resounding “yes”)
