Holden Secures 9.6 Percent Market Share In April

GM's Australian brand
Holden sold a total of 7,599 vehicles in April, grabbing a 9.6 percent market share in Australia. The brand faced shortages in traditionally popular products such as the
Colorado pickup and Barina (aka Sonic/Aveo) subcompact, with locally-made vehicles making up 70.3 percent of total April sales.
The Cruze moved 2,315 units -- making it the fourth-highest-selling car for the month. The Commodore, meanwhile, sold 2,248 times and was the fifth-highest-selling vehicle in the country as well as the best-selling large car, while the Captiva sold 991 units -- 400 of which were the Captiva 5 and 595 the Captiva 7.
Holden expects supply of imported cars to improve in the second half of the year and if
GM's production plans in Thailand are anything to go by, these expectations should prove to be true. Year-to-date, Holden has sold 36,534 vehicles, good for a market share of 10.8 percent.
Note: given that Holden achieved a market share of 9.6 percent by selling 7,599 vehicles, the entire automotive market would come in at just under 80,000 units a month nationwide. For comparison, that's about a million units less than the United States (every month).
