It’s September, and that means football season is now officially upon us in a big, big way. To celebrate, we’ve got a fun video of two of the NFL’s biggest superstars, Peyton Manning and Brett Favre, taking a ride in one extremely green 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible. However, this isn’t your typical ’67 Vette. This particular model was actually originally gifted to Super Bow I MVP Bart Starr, which, with Manning and Favre in the cabin, makes for one helluva football-lover’s combo.
The video comes to us from a promotion for Manning’s upcoming show “Peyton’s Places,” wherein the former Broncos and Colts quarterback visits various locales and does something entertaining, like playing touch football in Memphis dressed as Elvis, or throwing a football off a New York skyscraper. Of course, we’re most interested in Manning’s drive with Brett Favre in that special ’67 Chevrolet Corvette.
Speaking of the Vette, this thing is definitely worth a closer look. Back in January of 1967, the Green Bay Packers managed to clinch victory in the very first Super Bowl, beating the Kansas City Chiefs 35 to 10. Quarterback Bart Starr led the way for the Packers, and was awarded the title of MVP. To help celebrate the win, Starr was gifted a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Convertible, which was finished in Goodwood Green as a hat tip to the Packers. Under the hood lies the 327 Chevy Small-Block V8 mated to a four-speed manual transmission with a 3.36:1 Positraction rear end.
The car is gorgeous, and does well to complement the conversation between Manning and Favre as the two NFL legends cruise around Green Bay with the top down. It’s also entertaining to think about the public’s reaction when spotting the pair out and about.
For NFL fans and Corvette fans alike, this one is definitely worth a watch. And for those that want to skip straight to the car, jump ahead to the one-minute, four-second mark.
