Something Is Off With This Fairway Green C5 Corvette

This C5 Chevrolet Corvette may look normal at a first glance, but look at it a bit longer and you’ll probably notice something slightly off about its roofline.
That’s because this C5 Corvette, painted in General Motors’ rather obscure Fairway Green color, started out life as a soft top convertible, which was later removed in favor of an aftermarket folding hardtop.
Currently for sale on Craigslist in Minneapolis, the owner of this car says the automatic folding hardtop was designed and built by Drop Top Customs of High Springs, Florida. The company specializes in convertible conversions for American cars, offering convertible conversions for the Cadillac ATS and Dodge Challenger, and is still in business today. That should provide some reassurance to the upcoming new owner, who may be concerned about the reliability of the hardtop (as would we).
According to the listing, this car is 1 of only 60 C5 Corvette convertibles sold in Fairway Green and the paint remains in “outstanding” condition. The car comes with the original chrome wheels and has travelled just over 48,000 miles in its 19 years of existence, so the four-speed automatic transmission and LS1 V8 engine should be in good working order as well.
While unique and presented in wonderful condition, this C5 Corvette isn’t cheap. The seller is asking $26,000 for it, and while Craigslist buyers almost never pay the asking price for an item, this owner doesn’t seem keen on letting their eccentric C5 go for a bargain. It has that Knight Rider 2000 trans am feeling.
Unique.
Ugly, ugly ugly
C5z06 imanual s my dream vette.
This hard top looks like a bastardized copy
No C5 came with chrome wheels.
Sorry Steve you are mistaken…..I have a C5 that I bought new with chrome factory wheels, just like these.
Extremely ugly but hey what Corvette isn’t
As if the C5 didn’t already have a big enough butt. This just looks terrible. Probably cost a fortune to do that as well.
Interesting concept because there was no power top available but poorly executed. That back window roof line is too sharp and should be more rounded. That color is a turn off as well and certainly not for $26K, IMHO.
