After revealing the refreshed 2020 LaCrosse earlier this month in its standard configuration, Buick has now officially presented the range-topping version of the full-size sedan: meet the 2020 Buick LaCrosse Avenir.
The vehicle went on sale on March 28th in China in conjunction with the regular version. As we have previously mentioned, the refreshed 2020 LaCrosse will be available exclusively in China, and will not be sold in the American market.
According to Buick, the 2020 Buick LaCrosse Avenir will offer a more luxurious overall configuration than the present model. The brand claims to have increased refinement and quality with the use of improved materials, special paint and overall greater attention to detail, both when it comes to the exterior and interior.
Like the regular version, the 2020 Buick LaCrosse Avenir introduces an evolution of Buick’s design language. The new headlights have a more elegant and narrow shape, while the front grille adopts an exclusive diamond knit texture, inspired by the original Buick family logo. But it goes beyond that, with weaving techniques combine with a parametric design, enabling each diamond to create an elegant transition between deformation and light.
The side profile of the 2020 Buick LaCrosse remains identical to that of the renewed LaCrosse, but the rear features a new design. A new set of taillights are narrower than before, and are now curved downward. They are joined by a horizontal chrome bar in the center, that intersects with the logo in the middle of the rear end. In addition, the bumper features an integrated, through-fascia dual exhaust treatment that accompanies the vehicle’s elegant aesthetics.
Inside, the 2020 Buick LaCrosse maintains the design of the current, pre-facelift model. The Avenir range-topper uses more genuine leather covers, while the dashboard and door panels continue to be designed with a three-dimensional flow diamond texture.
The roof and pillars are lined with high-quality fabric. The cabin also features velvet pads, a Bose surround sound system, and various other amenities.
It is worth noting that consumers who buy the 2020 Buick LaCrosse Avenir will also receive Buick’s “customer-oriented” personalized service when servicing the vehicle. Created specifically for owners of the Buick Avenir range, it delivers a service concierge, an exclusive reception channel for maintenance, and an exclusive VIP rest area.
In addition, Buick Avenir owners will be able to enjoy value-added services that include GL8 rentals, airport transfers, roadside assistance and a deep cleaning/detailing of their vehicle’s interior.
All versions of the facelifted 2020 Buick LaCrosse will be powered by GM’s turbocharged 2.0L I-4 LSY engine good for 237 horsepower and a maximum torque of 350 Nm (258 pound-feet). The boosted four-banger is mated to the new GM 9-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the refreshed Lacrosse will also offer GM’s new turbocharged 1.3L L3T inline three-cylinder engine that makes 160 horsepower.
