For years, GMC has served as the official vehicle of the Denver Broncos NFL Football team, but that changes for the 2018 season. Ford announced last Thursday it will replace General Motors’ luxury truck brand as the official truck and SUV, according to Ford Authority.
The sponsorship is fitting as Ford’s new Bronco sits on the horizon. The reborn off-road SUV is expected to launch early next decade as a 2021 model. With the sponsorship, Ford will present the “Broncos Connected,” “Broncos Huddle,” and feature bike-parking and valet service during home games.
Fans will begin to see a “Broncos Country is Ford Country” slogan for the 2018 season as well.
GM punted (pun intended) its official NFL sponsorship to Hyundai beginning for the 2016 season. The U.S. automaker was the official sponsor since 2001. In its final years, GM promoted the GMC brand heavily with the NFL. Hyundai’s sponsorship will last at least four NFL seasons. Costs of the sponsorship were reportedly $25 million annually.
