The latest Black Editions further reinforce the popularity of such packages. Chevrolet and GMC have introduced numerous special edition vehicles that go heavy on dark hues. GMC data showed one in five buyers will spend extra money to personalize their vehicle after purchase. GMC wants to keep the aftermarket dollars in-house.
For the 2019 GMC Acadia Black Edition, the CUV receives 20-inch aluminum wheels with black accents, a black grille insert, head and taillight details, mirror caps and a few other black elements. The package is only available on SLT models.
The 2019 GMC Terrain Black Edition is much of the same. It includes 19-inch aluminum wheels with black accents, and the same black and darkened elements found on the Acadia. Buyers will have to select either the SLE or SLT trim to add the Black Edition trimmings.
GMC will offer the Acadia Black Edition in Ebony Twilight Metallic, Summit White, White Frost Tricoat and, new for 2019, Dark Sky Metallic and Smokey Quartz Metallic. Meanwhile, Terrain Black Edition buyers may choose from Ebony Twilight Metallic, Summit White, Graphite Gray Metallic, Satin Steel Metallic and a new Sedona Metallic hue.
The 2019 Acadia and Terrain Black Editions will be present at the 2018 New York Auto Show next week, and both packages will be available for the crossovers this summer.
