A sad story today as a couple reportedly lost their lives after their brand new Holden Special Vehicles GTSR burst into flames on impact in a one-car wreck.
The man said to be in his 30s, and the woman in her 20s, stopped at a local pub seeking a room for the night in Perth, according to 7 News. Friends of the couple said they were booking a room and they’d join them for a drink shortly.
Instead, the couple’s friends report the two sped off in the HSV, showcasing erratic behavior. The GTSR was purchased just a day before the accident.
“He was driving absolutely crazy – just foot to the floor and making as much noise as possible,” the friend said.
The HSV GTSR drove straight through an intersection and slammed into an embankment, bursting into flames immediately, according to first responders. Police said they determined the couple burned to death after the wreck.
Why the driver was exhibiting such erratic may never be known, as police can’t positively identify who was actually behind the wheel at this point. Investigators currently believe a mix of alcohol and excessive speed are to blame for the tragic crash.
