72-year-old Vietnam veteran Omar Sixto likely never dreamt the hatred in someone would cause them to carry what happened to him Sunday afternoon, but unfortunately, some people have the worst motives.
Sixto was repairing the wiper blade on his 2000 C5 Corvette convertible when he was struck in the back of the head, leaving him bloody and unconscious. The man went on to beat him before stealing the Corvette as Sixto lay unaware, according to local news affiliate WSVN.
“I had blood here, blood here, and you know, I felt the tooth, you know, chip,” Sixto said, pointing to different spots on his head. “I just went unconscious. I never knew what hit me. I never knew. I don’t even remember how I got up. I was totally dizzy.”
“I have a broken bone here in my eye socket. The septum in the nose is also broken. Three stitches here, eight here, three in the back and a chipped tooth. A couple of inches further in the brain, I would have been gone,” he added.
Sixto didn’t get much a description of the man who assaulted him and stole his vehicle but said he was a clean-cut male likely in his 20s. Sixto thinks he had been casing the car and him out before attacking him.
“I should have really paid attention to the guy pacing, but he didn’t look like a criminal,” he said.
Thankfully, Sixto will recover and police have since located his 2000 Corvette. However, the suspect has not been found as of this report.
