The GM Authority Take
Month in and month out, the Chevy Trax continues to not only prove the strength of the subcompact crossover segment in the United States, but also the market’s voracious demand for crossovers (at the expense of sedans).
To note, Chevrolet was second to enter the subcompact crossover segment in the U.S., with Nissan’s Juke being first to market. Other automakers, such as Honda with the HR-V and Toyota with the C-HR, have since followed suit by introducing vehicles into the rapidly-growing segment. And roughly two months ago, GM’s cross-town rival, Ford, announced plans to start selling its Ford EcoSport CUV in the United States. The vehicle will compete directly with the Chevy Trax.

OMG.. and the chatter a couple of years ago was that Chevy introducing their Trax might cannibalize sales of Buick’s Encore; but apparently it’s just the opposite as both the Chevy Trax and Buick Encore are both doing extremely well which makes you wonder whether GMC will get a version of this vehicle.
GMC likely will get a version off the same platform (or its replacement), potentially:

And the nimrods said this would steal sales, I don’t think so with numbers like this. Nice thing is they’re more useful than a passenger car too.
