Despite breaking away from the crown in 1776, there are some similarities between England and the United States. For one, we have quite a few storied automobile manufacturers. And there are special cars running throughout history from both countries.
For Jaguar, that would be the E-Type, which finds a spiritual successor in the Jaguar F-Type. For America, it’s the Chevrolet Corvette.
So, Roadshow decided to pit the Union Jack against the Stars and Stripes with the latest from both Jaguar and Chevrolet: the 2017 C7 Corvette Grand Sport and the Jaguar F-Type SVR.
The Corvette Grand Sport has been busy taking names on the track, fitting itself as the “just right” option between the C7 Corvette Stingray and C7 Corvette Z06, but it has quite a competitor in the more bonkers F-Type SVR. Despite being lighter, the Corvette is actually down on power compared to the rambunctious Jag.
But, we’re not going to write about the outcome. That’s for you to watch and enjoy in the shootout video right up above. May the best sports car win.
