It’s almost a shame the market has turned towards crossovers and utility vehicles because so many buyers are missing out on some of the best sedans automakers have ever made.
That’s particularly true in the luxury realm. And two brands that have risen from the ashes are better than ever. Those would be Buick and Volvo.
Business Insider decided to take the two marques, which had fallen from glory, and see how the latest sedan offerings would do. The Volvo S90 is priced to play with the Germans, while Buick falls a tier lower. But, that’s not to say it isn’t worthy. In fact, the review found the 2017 Buick LaCrosse punched well above its weight.
The review commended Buick for its buttoned-down approach to driving dynamics, some of the best infotainment in the business and stately good looks inside and out.
But the Volvo brought the goods. Its niche approach to luxury will appeal to many buyers, but in the end, the Buick was deemed a winner, especially when seeing its goods came at $16,000 less than the Volvo.
In many ways, the Volvo is a better car. More special, increasingly more elegant. But, there’s no denying Buick brought its A-game with the 2017 LaCrosse. We found that out precisely when we first drove it.
