Buick has taken a few gambles in the recent past, and they’ve turned out to be good bets. You can chalk up the Buick Encore, Buick Verano and Buick Cascada all as vehicles that pushed the brand into new territories.
Now, the brand will keep pushing. New spy shots show the upcoming 2018 Buick Regal wagon under Opel camouflage and we’ve heard on more than a few occasions it’s bound for the U.S. and Canada. However, these shots show the more traditional wagon body style and we know there will be a crossover-like variant also coming.
By “crossover-like variant”, we mean it’s going to be a raised wagon much like the current Opel Insignia Country Tourer. Opel has already officially stated a sedan, wagon and country tourer will be offered in Europe. At this point, it seems more likely the Country Tourer will be the offering of choice, as Buick continues to fill out “white space.”
Dealers have reportedly already seen the upcoming Regal wagon, which will likely carry the Regal TourX name. We’re expecting a debut at the 2017 New York International Auto Show, after the 2018 Opel Insignia Grand Sport is revealed in Geneva weeks earlier.
