If you’re not a friend or family member of a GM employee, find a partner and make some buddies because the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 configurator has gone live on the GM Family First site.
The site provides employee discounted prices for new GM vehicles across the automaker’s North American brands, and the 2017 Camaro ZL1 is included with a partial build configurator.
The 2017 Camaro ZL1 will arrive with seven standard color options, plus three premium colors. The premium colors, Hyper Blue Metallic, Bright Yellow and Garnet Red Tintcoat, will each tack on an additional $395. No matter which color you choose, the interior arrives in Jet Black with red accents and seat trim.
As for options, they’re slim. The 2017 Camaro ZL1 arrives with the six-speed manual gearbox standard, but if you wait it out for the new 10-speed automatic, it’ll set you back $1,595. Keep in mind, though, this gearbox helped topple many supercars during the ZL1’s impressive Nürburgring time.
Other notable options include the Performance Data Recorder ($1,300), power sunroof ($900), Black Metallic center stripe ($470) and numerous variations of special car covers.
We chose to finish our 2017 Camaro ZL1 in Hyper Blue with the lightning-quick 10-speed automatic and added a ZL1-branded car cover for our pseudo-ownership experience. The grand total came out to an MSRP of $64,560, but under $60,000 with a GM discount.
You can head to the configurator here while you see who in your contacts can grab you such a steep discount. To get to the ZL1 configurator, select 2017 Camaro and choose the ZL1 trim.
