General Motors will no longer provide updates for its OnStar RemoteLink mobile app. Instead, the automaker will focus on its myChevrolet, myCadillac, myBuick and myGMC apps, which were recently overhauled to include features from the RemoteLink app.
OnStar RemoteLink provides remote vehicle access and information services, such as door lock/unlock, remote start, and fuel range, among other features. Initially released in 2010, the app delivered many industry firsts and represented a leap forward in the connected vehicle space. Meanwhile, the four individual brand apps were redesigned to inherit the RemoteLink functionality earlier this year.
Despite plans to no longer update RemoteLink, GM tells us that the app will remain available for download in the Apple App Store and in Google Play, at least for the time being.
