General Motors has filed an application to register A MAVEN as a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), GM Authority was first to discover.
The automaker’s June 30th, 2016 application is assigned serial number 87089960, describes the mark as consisting of a “fanciful letter A and the word Maven“, and specifies that the mark will be used in the following four goods and services categories:
- Application software for connecting vehicle drivers and passengers and for coordinating transportation services; software for use in planning, monitoring and controlling urban transportation
- Land motor vehicles, rail vehicles
- Business services relating to transportation of goods and services; administration of a customer loyalty program
- Rental of land motor vehicles, bicycles and motorized bicycles, scooters and cycles; land vehicle sharing services, transportation services for passengers and freight
The GM Authority Take
It doesn’t take much to decipher that the A Maven trademark application is related to General Motors’ Maven vehicle sharing service, which is currently available in limited markets across the United States. In fact, we can already see commercials for the service ending with the tagline, “it’s nice to have a maven“.
