It seems like Chevrolet is keen on expanding the Spark family. AutoGuide reports the Chevrolet Spark Activ has been registered with the California Air Resources Board, meaning it’s more than likely the vehicle will be introduced in the United States.
The Spark Activ, otherwise known as the Beat Activ, is an Indian vehicle introduced with basic off-road capability and beefed up looks from the cutesy subcompact car. Or, as Chevrolet puts it, a “soft-roader” with “expressive design language.”
It’s still cutesy, but plastic cladding gives off the impression of off-road capabilities along with some fun graphics on the side of the vehicle.
The documents submitted to the CARB state the Spark Activ will use the same 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine, making 98 hp and 94 lb-ft of torque. Hardly off-road ready, but we think a Spark Activ could find its niche for first time Chevrolet buyers.
