The Indianapolis Motor Speedway will be celebrating a milestone this coming May, when the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 takes places at the speedway. To help celebrate, Chevrolet and IMS revealed this year’s festival cars, 33 of them.
According to local news affiliate Fox 59, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS convertible was presented to 33 directors of the 500 Festival at the speedway last Friday. The festival cars have been somewhat of a tradition for the IMS, with directors driving them all over central Indiana to help promote the big race.
“You know the month of May is almost here when the Indianapolis 500 Festival cars are seen around the streets of Indianapolis and beyond,” said J. Douglas Boles, Indianapolis Motor Speedway president.
The 2016 Camaro SS festival cars are each painted Hyper Blue with white stripes and a 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 graphic featured along the sides of the vehicle.
The Camaros will hit local streets soon, as the Indy 500 race day approaches us. The race will take place on May 29, 2016.
