The most famous car presenters… in the world – Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond– are back together. But don’t call it Top Gear.
While they won’t be able to tour under or use the BBC name in any way, it appears the boys will present an eerily similar, TG-esque format when they kick-off the first not-Top-Gear-live-but-really-Top-gear show in Australia– they’ve already hosted a few in the UK– starting with two shows in Perth, July 18 and 19, and again in Sydney July 24 and 25.
The 90-minute shows, which will include ridiculousness like Sidecar Polo, Car Rugby and brand new V8 Cricket, will also include new, never-before-seen footage filmed earlier this year.
Today, we get our first taste of what to expect– a shootout between the 650 hp 2015 Corvette Z06, a 991 Porsche 911 Turbo and a Mercedes-Benz AMG GT.
It’s a short clip but is presented in
Top Gear familiar fashion, and it only serves to increase our longing to see Clarkson, May and Hammond in their final challenges as a trio on June 28.
In the meantime, who needs an excuse to hear the Z06’s 6.2L supercharged LT4 in anger?
