In one of the more wild stunts Vauxhall sponsors, the brand is gearing up for its annual Art Car Boot Fair, which will be making stops in London and Margate. Boot, as in trunk for us yanks, to make that clear right quick.
The Art Car Boot Fair gathers some of today’s most well known abstract artists, and some of the best up-and-comers for a day of unique artwork to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. And it’s all done from the trunks of vintage, and some modern, Vauxhall vehicles.
This year’s lineup includes Tracey Emin, Sir Peter Blake, Polly Morgan, Matt Collishaw, Rachel Howard & True Rocks, Gavin Turk, Ben Eine, Pam Hogg, Bob and Roberta Smith, Jessica Albarn, Turps Banana with Marcus Harvey, Pure Evil, James Unsworth, Ben Eine and Kristijana Williams, which Vauxhall names as notable returners.
A new introduction to this year’s show will be the dog in a boot portion of the event, where guests may bring their canine companions for a chance to have them photographed with their owners in a car boot by artist Maria Teresa Gavazzi.
Typical pieces at the show range from as low as £10, but can soar to £1,000 for more established artists’ work. The event sees over 1,000 locals come in from across England for their chance at a unique piece. Vauxhall representatives say to stay tuned on a lineup of artists for the Margate showing, which should be a fantastic venue seaside.
The London show will take place on June 14, with the Margate stop occurring on August 30.
