When Chevrolet first pulled the wraps off of their C7 Corvette Z06, the word ‘supercar’ kept getting tossed around. It wasn’t without good reason, though, as the Z06 has the numbers – and the looks – to back up the proclamation.
Despite its aggressive appearance and 650 horsepower LT1 engine, one Corvette Forum user thought the C7 Z06 was missing a certain flashy feature which is also normally exclusive to supercars: scissor doors.
Aftermarket Lamborghini-style hinges are usually sold to overly imaginative Cavalier or Honda Civic owners, giving them a slightly negative connotation in the car world. But at the risk of putting our sense of style into question, we actually think this scissor door install looks pretty good on the Corvette. It has the looks and performance to back up the “look at me!” doors, so they don’t look overly out of place, and the owner says they help him fit his 6’3” frame in the sports car.
We probably wouldn’t do this to our own Corvette, but we can’t fault a car fan for wanting to make their ride unique. This is also the first scissor-door Z06 we’ve seen, so if the owner wanted to stand out from the crowd, he’s succeeded.
