The United States and Canada aren’t the only markets Cadillac has in mind for its highly anticipated 2016 CT6 sedan, set to launch ahead of the New York Auto Show later this month. According to report from InAutoNews, the luxury sedan will also be offered in Europe, signaling the brand’s serious attitude towards becoming a more relevant nameplate in the Old Continent.
Not only will a CT6 be offered in Europe, it will be slightly rethought to appeal to the European consumer. A Cadillac executive told InAutoNews the CT6 will be sold with a diesel engine when it makes the cross continental swim, which is almost necessary if your looking to be a serious volume player in Europe. We’re left wondering if Cadillac plans on offering some sort of ultra-efficient diesel hybrid CT6 in Europe, considering it’s already confirmed a gasoline CT6 hybrid for U.S. showrooms.
The CT6 will finally break cover in a couple weeks’ time and should go on sale by the end of this year or early next year. A timeline for European deliveries or on-sale dates is still way out, considering Cadillac has yet to publically comment on the CT6’s European arrival. More should become clear once Johan de Nysschen and his team finally pull the veil from their full-size flagship in NYC.
