Hennessey Performance Engineering knows its way around a Camaro, and no variation of the fifth-generation pony car is more welcoming to its performance enhancements than the supercharged 580 horsepower ZL1. The Texan tuning company recently applied its HPE750 package to the facelifted 2014 model-year Camaro ZL1, just in case the fastest Camaro available had you yawning behind the wheel.
It doesn’t take much to bump the output of the Camaro’s already powerful 6.2-liter supercharged LSA V8 engine to over 700 horsepower. HPE’s upgrades consist of ported cylinder heads, a new upper and lower pulley for the supercharger, upgraded valvetrain parts, an HPE camshaft, stainless steel headers, a new fuel system and an upgraded intercooler heat exchange system.
Considering Hennessey once blasted a Camaro ZL1 with “only” 700 horsepower down a Texas Toll Road at 203 mph, were going to go out on a limb and say this HPE750 package is pretty potent. A teenager lost control of a Camaro ZL1 that looked exactly like this and put it into the deep end of a swimming pool earlier this year, so if you have one of these on order, promise us you’ll pay attention.
