Just over 2,000 examples of the Lamborghini Countach were ever produced, which has driven the price of the highly sought after Italian supercar astronomically high. Just like anything else that’s absurdly expensive, if there’s someone who can’t afford it, there’s someone who will make a copy of it. Normally we decry knock-off products and replica sports cars, but this Countach replica found for sale on Craigslist looks like it could actually be pretty cool when finished.
Even though the Countach replica could be a neat project when it’s completed, it probably never will be. Just like so many other projects like this started by an overly ambitious man with the desire to own a supercar and ignore his wife, the seller has given up and wants an unrealistic $24,000 for the car.
Don’t get us wrong, though. We’d love to see someone scoop this work-in-progress up. It’s powered by a 5.2-liter LS1 V8 mated to a 6-speed manual transaxle from a Porsche Boxster with an LS adapter plate. It also has a Corvette brake system, hubs, spindles, control arms, clutch, pedal system and Corvette rack and pinion steering. The chassis is completely custom, constructed from tig welded DOM steel, but the seller says it will be street legal when it’s done.
As you can tell from the photos, there is still tonnes of work left to do on the car. The seller lists all the work with an approximate time frame and in total, they estimate around 321.5 hours of work is still waiting to be completed. Now we know why their selling it. Check out the listing here if you’ve been waiting for the perfect way to burn through both your money and your free time at once.
