When we see hideous modifications on cars, sometimes we can partially excuse the owner because the changes they’ve made are just the ‘in’ thing to do with their friends. Take ‘Donks’ for example, an automotive subculture based around putting unnecessarily big rims and flashy paintjobs on older American sedans and sometimes even modern-day muscle cars. We’re not sure if the strange cosmetic modifications applied to this beige 1995 Buick Roadmaster found for sale on Craigslist are part of any type of subculture, though. It’s probably just the result of someone with bad taste.
The funniest part about this ad is the seller seems to think the gigantic wing, ridiculous body kit and pointless hood scoop are all just normal modifications. They don’t make any mention of how or why the mods were applied, only saying that they are all made out of “12 gauge steel” and are “in perfect condition.” The rest of the ad reads like it’s for a normal ‘95 Roadmaster, mentioning the “excellent” running condition, leather interior and recently replaced tires.
Unsurprisingly, he modifications seem to have made the seller think his car is now worth more. Kelley Blue Book puts the value of a 1995 Roadmaster in “Good” condition with 165,000 miles on the odometer at $1,712. This Roadmaster has 177,300 miles and is not in “Good” condition, but the seller still wants $5900 for it. I guess we shouldn’t be surprised, this is Craigslist after all.
