General Motors has announced it will begin to offer discounts on new vehicles to those who are current employees of an educational institution as part of its new GM Educator Discount program. To be eligible, the individual must work at either a public or private school or university or college.
“GM values the work our educators and support staff are doing across the county to create a strong, responsible workforce for the future,” Linda Stouffer, manager of Vehicle Purchase Programs, said in a statement. “The GM Educator Discount is our way of showing our support and appreciation for everyone in the education community.”
The discount program went into effect on July 1 and will continue through to January 2, 2015. GM has not said how much of a discount they are offering, but did say eligible buyers will be able to receive a “significant discount” on the purchase or lease of a new 2015 or 2014 Chevrolet, Buick or GMC vehicle. For example on the discount program’s website, which allows you to build your ideal vehicle and see the price after discounts, a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 Double Cab with a regular price of $37,565 was discounted to $35,148 after Educator Discounts were applied. When combined with current offers, which include Independence Day Cash and Consumer Purchase Cash, the truck rang in at $29,898.86 for a total discount of $7,666.14.
All Chevrolet, Buick and GMC models are eligible, save for the limited production Chevrolet Spark EV and Camaro Z/28. More information on GM‘s Educator Discount is available on the official website for the program.
