Fresh off the success of the “Transform Your Everyday” ad for the Camaro, Chevrolet experienced more viral marketing fame after the spot announcing its 72 hour sale racked up nearly 1,500,000 views on YouTube in only a week. The ad’s rapid accumulation of views was enough to put it at the top of Automotive News’ Top Viral Videos list for the week.
Chevrolet’s 72 Hour Sale, which has now been extended through to Monday, July 14, offers qualified buyers 0% APR financing for 72 months and no monthly payments for the rest of the summer on most new Chevrolet vehicles.
The viral success of the ad for the 72 Hour Sale is somewhat surprising, considering it only tells viewers of the sale and offers no other creative element for them to enjoy. This is unlike the “Transform Your Everyday” ad, which features scenes from the new Transformers 4: Age of Extinction movie and a light-hearted script where a boy asks a yellow Camaro if it is Bumblebee, referring to the character from the Transformers movies.
The “Transform Your Everyday” ad racked up another 528,413 since last week, enough to keep it around on the Top Viral Videos list, but dropping it down from fourth place to seventh.
