The Corvette Racing team emerged out of the first practice session of the 2014 24 Hourse of Le Mans pretty much unscathed, putting the C7.R race cars through the wringer for the first time. The results of which were just okay, with the team currently placing the 4th and 11th best lap times in the GTE Pro class.
Antonio Garcia was the fastest driver for Corvette Racing, with a best time of 3:56.443 (128.935 mph) in the No. 73 Corvette C7.R that he shares with Jan Magnussen and Jordan Taylor. In relation, the time is 1.689 seconds behind the pole-sitting Ferrari. Meanwhile, Tommy Milner set the best time in the No. 74 Corvette C7.R with a best lap time of 3:59.446 (127.319 mph). Milner will share seat time with Oliver Gavin and Richard Westbrook. The No. 74 car also had to change gearboxes after Milner lost power 45 minutes before the session ended. But at least nobody on the team crashed.
All of this is to say that setting the fastest lap times take a back seat to consistency and a bit of luck in what is the greatest endurance race of the season.
