Shanghai GM has reported that 102,469 Buick Encores have been sold in China as of May 31. The car is Buick’s first for the Chinese market and is marketed as the “SUV for Youth,” or in unbroken English, an SUV for young people The car is considered a compact SUV at just over 14 feet in length, whereas a Chevrolet Tahoe is 17 feet in length. More importantly, for the Chinese market, it has a lot of technology.
The Chinese love cars packed with gizmos and gadgets, or at least their wallets do. The Encore has Bluetooth, a rearview camera system, auto-dimming mirrors, remote start, front and rear park assist, forward collision alert, lane departure warning, and side blind zone alert all as standard. Options include an electric sunroof, navigation, and even a Bose surround sound system. Combined with its affordable price and quality, it’s no wonder why this car has been such a success in China. Buick thinks this success is worth some celebration.
As such, The Trishield brand has called for the release of the Buick Encore 100,000-Unit Commemorative Edition. It will be available for purchase on the Buick mall store and feature exterior chrome accents, an integrated door sill, daytime running lamps, shark gill portholes, metal sports pedals, an embedded navigation system, and a rearview camera.
