At an Automotive Press luncheon on Tuesday, jurors announced the finalists for the prestigious 2014 North American Car and Truck of the Year awards, with three General Motors vehicles making the final cut, including the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Cadillac CTS sedan and 2014 Chevrolet Silverado full-size pickup.
A jury of 48 automotive journalists selected the three cars from 28 domestic and foreign contenders. The CTS and Corvette will compete with the Mazda 3 hatchback for this year’s award, while the Silverado is one of three chosen finalists in the Truck/Utility category, competing with the Acura MDX and Jeep Cherokee.
“Today’s announcement is proof we’re on the right track,” said Mark Reuss, president, General Motors North America, and soon-to-be executive vice president, Global Product Development, Purchasing and Supply Chain. “It’s gratifying to see the experts agree that we’re offering customers one of the strongest lineups of cars and trucks available on the market.”
The winners of the NACOTY awards will be announced prior to the North American International Auto Show on January 13, 2014.
