Upon passing away, Matt Ochoa’s grandfather left him with his truck: a single cab, automatic GMC Canyon. It’s not what most would consider an ideal platform for tuning, but Matt was just a kid, and made do with what he had.
Flipping burgers at In-N-Out, Matt dumped every penny he made into turbocharging the Canyon, converting it from a handy compact work truck into a quarter mile monster. The rear-mounted turbo helps bump the power of the 5 cylinder up to 335 horses and 340 lb.-ft. of torque at the rear wheels. How does a massively-turbocharged GMC Canyon (aka a “sport truck for the street”) built with burger money perform as an all-around vehicle, and how much smoke can its rear tires make?
