Chevrolet has given back to those who have given the most, our wounded veterans. At the 114th Army-Navy football game, General Motors CEO Dan Akerson presented the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans with a brand new 2014 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab.
“This Silverado is capable of amazing things, but I can’t think of a higher calling for it than helping wounded veterans rebuild their lives,” said Akerson.
More than 1,000 wounded veterans are overcoming life-threatening and debilitating injuries through way of Achilles International. The organization trains in hand cycles or on their prosthetics and go on to compete in mainstream marathons and road races across the country and internationally.
This isn’t the first time Chevrolet has supported Achilles International. Last year Chevrolet introduced two prototype hand cycles at the Army-Navy game designed to meet the unique needs of wounded athletes. The third Camaro ZL1 Convertible was also auctioned off to the tune of $150,000 in support of the organization.
